Preparations underway for City of Welland’s multi-year accessibility plan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | January 30, 2025
The City of Welland is continuing its proactive approach to accessibility planning by developing its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (MYAP) for 2025-2030. This initiative will ensure that the City remains compliant with accessibility legislation while identifying and addressing barriers to accessibility in the community.
“This Multi-Year Accessibility Plan is about ensuring that Welland is a city where everyone can fully participate,” said Grant Munday, director of planning and development services. “By engaging with residents and interested parties, we can better understand the challenges faced by our community and create a plan that promotes accessibility in a meaningful and sustainable way.”
Public input is a vital component of the plan, and residents are invited to share their experiences and ideas through a survey open from January 30 to February 28 at 4 p.m. Developed in consultation with The Herrington Group, the survey will be available online and during in-person information sessions at:
- Welland Public Library (Main branch) on Thursday, February 6, from 3 to 6 p.m.
- Welland YMCA on Friday, February 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Welland Community Centre on Saturday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Alongside the public survey, the City is engaging with its Accessibility Advisory Committee to host meetings and discussion groups to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive plan.
