Purpose: Promoting the implementation of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act in the City of Welland and improving opportunities for people with disabilities. Advising Council, as required by the Act, on its annual Accessibility Plan, which focuses on identifying, removing, and preventing barriers with disabilities.

Purpose: Serving staff and City Council on matters about programs, planning, development, and policy reviews.

Purpose: Identifying affordable housing matters, conducting research, and advising City Council on affordable housing policies, proposals, and matters referred to the committee by Council.

Purpose: Serving staff and City Council on matters about the advancement of arts and culture in the community.

Purpose: Advising City Council on matters about the conservation and administration of heritage properties and areas.

Purpose: Granting minor variances from the provisions of any municipal by-law that implements an official plan and approving land severances.

Purpose: Reviewing the remuneration and benefits paid to City Council members for the upcoming term of office – November 2022 to November 2026.

Purpose: Hearing appeals regarding assessment complaints for local improvement charges within the City of Welland. Also, hearing appeals on drainage works assessments given that some of the cost of a proposed drainage works is collected, as taxes, from the land owner.

Purpose: Ruling on an appeal by a dog owner concerning a muzzle order or other provision relating to a dangerous dog.

Purpose: All members of Council serve the GC in an advisory role to Council, enabling fuller discussion on matters they will ultimately decide.

Purpose: Advising Council on matters of green initiatives and the city’s urban forest.

Purpose: Providing leadership and advice to Council on enhancing access and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit, and queer (LGBTQ2+) communities to participate fully in City services and civic life.

Purpose: Serving staff and City Council on matters about the facilities, programs, and services at the market square.

Purpose: Hearing appeals of property standards orders and confirming, modifying, rescinding, or extending the time for complying with the order.

Purpose: Serving staff and City Council on matters impacting the quality of life of senior citizens in Welland.

Purpose: Developing and enhancing relationships, communications, and policies among the college, its students, the City, police, and the community. Achieving this mandate by addressing issues such as neighbourhood development/community relations, housing, the environment, economic activities, charitable/volunteer programs, recreational and cultural events, health and safety, and academic outreach.

Purpose: Serving staff and City Council on matters of the management and development of the recreational waterway, including surrounding trails and canal lands.

Purpose: Serving staff and City Council on matters about the facilities, programs, and services at the Welland arenas.

Purpose: Serving staff and City Council on matters pertaining to the facilities, programs, and services at the Welland Community Centre.

Purpose: To work towards maintaining and securing a fully functional hospital in Welland.

Purpose: Operating, maintaining, improving, and acquiring by way of purchase, lease, sub-lease, or otherwise, the air harbour known as the Niagara Central Dorothy Rungeling Airport (formerly the Niagara Central Airport). The NCAC operates the airport on behalf of the surrounding municipalities of Welland, Wainfleet, Pelham, and Port Colborne.

Purpose: Promoting the area as a business or shopping destination and improving, beautifying, and maintaining the municipally owned lands, buildings, and structures within the catchment area.

Purpose: Securing new industries in the City of Welland, aiding industries in the City, and promoting Welland as an industrial, business, educational, residential, or vacation centre.

Purpose: The Board of Management is entrusted, subject to such limitations as the by-law may provide, the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally owned lands, buildings and structures in the area (downtown Welland improvement area), beyond such improvement, beautification and maintenance as is provided at the expense of the municipality at large, and the promotion of the area as a business or shopping area.

Purpose:
  • Supervising the management of the business and affairs of its corporations, subject to the board’s authority under the Business Corporation Act.
  • Providing the board with the shareholder’s expectations regarding governance and other fundamental principles and policies. Informing Welland residents of the shareholder’s fundamental principles regarding the business.
  • Setting out the accountability, responsibility, and relationship between the board and the shareholder.

Purpose: Operating the Welland Public Library.

Purpose:
  • Keeping City Council informed of important matters affecting youth and enhancing the image of youth in Welland.
  • Acting as a positive advocate for youth and supporting events created by the council.
  • Gathering input on important matters affecting youth and addressing these issues through presentations to City Council, events, or initiatives.
  • Providing leadership experience for youth.

Purpose: Serving City Council on matters about poverty.

Mission Statement: Collecting, preserving, researching, exhibiting, and interpreting objects and materials that illustrate the historical development of Welland, Pelham, and surrounding areas. Endeavouring to grow with the community, providing knowledge and programs on the City’s heritage.

Purpose: Promoting the City of Welland’s official title, Rose City of Canada, encouraging community spirit, involvement, and pride, and hosting an annual festival of events and activities. Acquiring and overseeing lands, facilities, and equipment. Managing donations, gifts, and bequests.
