Farmers Market

The Welland farmers market has been located on the present site since 1907. An important meeting place for commercial and social events for more than 100 years, it continues to be a focal point in downtown Welland.

The north and south elevations are well proportioned, with the south elevation containing scroll ornamentation on a Spanish gable parapet. The north elevation has an interesting window and wall treatments with wide soffits and a low-pitched hip roof.

The vertical-brick cornice and the walls are divided with proportioned piers. Centre panels are decorated with raised brick and a rectangular stone. The large split scale doors are solid wood with decorative diagonal plank panels. The interior market hall is illuminated by raised monitor lighting. The original double wood mouldings remain on the south and east canopy fascia, creating a dentil moulding.
