Plumber Licences
No person in the City of Welland will hold themself out as a master plumber or journeyman plumber, act as a master plumber or journeyman plumber, or do any plumbing work unless they hold a licence issued under the authority of By-law 8324.
Fees
Licence application and renewal fees are payable according to the following criteria:
- Master plumber licence (new) — $72
- Master plumber licence (renewal) — $37
- Journeyman licence (new and renewal) — $19
Requirements
All applicants for a master plumber’s licence must hold a valid certificate of qualification for the trade of plumber under the Apprenticeship and Tradesmen’s Qualification Act. In addition, they must certify that they are currently licensed as a master plumber by a municipality or demonstrate they have sufficient experience as a plumber (usually a minimum of two to three years).
Expiry date
Every licence expires on December 31 in the calendar year it is issued.
Master and journeyman plumber forms and applications
Master plumber refers to a person skilled in the planning, superintending, and installing of plumbing. This individual is familiar with the governing laws, rules, and regulations, has a regular place of business in Ontario, and has been issued a certificate of qualification in the trade of plumber under the Apprenticeship and Tradesmen’s Qualification Act.
