WIFC Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the backbone of a community. Their giving spirit and sense of community above self are admirable and appreciated.
Volunteering at WIFC makes a difference in the lives of people in our community and enhances the experience of visitors to Welland.
General requirements
- volunteers must be at least 14 years of age
- a Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required for volunteers working with participants under 18 years of age
- completion of a volunteer application form, interview, and orientation session
Volunteer interview and orientation sessions
Interview sessions are held before orientation is complete, ensuring your volunteer goals and our expectations are similar. Interviews are usually completed the same week as orientation.
Mandatory orientation sessions are held once a month, educating volunteers about the City’s policies and procedures.
Stipend program
Volunteer with us, and we allocate stipend funds on your behalf to a local organization of your choice. For each volunteer shift, we will direct a portion of those funds back to your chosen non-profit community group or sports organization. The more shifts you take on, the more funds you’ll earn. Other benefits include:
- receiving a branded t-shirt
- lunch provided for all shifts
