Guidelines for Visitors
Welcome to our beautiful city; we’re glad you’re here. We hope you take some time to smell the roses (literally, we have a beautiful rose garden at Chippawa Park) and enjoy all Welland has to offer. That said, we hope you’ll respect our natural settings and consider how your actions impact everyone else enjoying our parks, open spaces, and communal areas.
Pets: Our parks welcome you and your pet. Please keep dogs leashed and clean up after them.
Littering is illegal: Garbage containers are located throughout our parks for your use. Please properly dispose of any wrappers or leftovers from your visit. It is illegal to dump any personal or household waste into city receptacles.
Safety and hazard elimination: Please report safety concerns or hazards that you notice in our parks and on our trails to the Parks and Forestry division. This can include but is not limited to benches, light posts, railings, playground equipment, and trees.
Vandalism: Unlawful behaviour and vandalism are not tolerated in our parks, and such acts are dealt with appropriately. Vandalism can be reported to the Parks and Forestry division. If you witness vandalism occurring, please call the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111.
Motorized vehicles: The use of motorized vehicles in public parks and on trails is prohibited.
Alcohol: Alcohol is not permitted in parks unless with the written permission of the City.
Smoking: Smoking is strictly prohibited across parks, playgrounds, sports fields, arenas, recreational centres, bus shelters, splash pads, pools, and within 9 metres of an entrance or exit.
Pavilions: Pavilions are commonly booked from May to October for various purposes. If you are interested in reserving a pavilion, please visit the Facilities and Halls page for more information.
Green space: The City’s park green space is available for all to enjoy. If a specific area in a park must be secured for a private function, please visit the Facilities and Halls page for more information.
