City of Welland adapting to postal disruption

Posted | November 15, 2024

The City of Welland is making arrangements to ensure minimal disruption with city services in response to the Canada Post strike.

City staff have been meeting to review and revise plans in anticipation of the postal disruption, and will continue to meet next week to address evolving needs.

Property Taxes, Water, and Parking Payments

Residents and property owners are responsible for paying property taxes, water bills, and parking fines on time to avoid penalties.

  • No property tax or water billing notices are scheduled for at least the next couple of weeks. Staff will monitor the situation and plan for the delivery of these bills and notices should the strike continue.
  • Should customers wish to sign up for e-billing to prevent future disruptions, please visit the City’s website at: https://www.welland.ca/Finance/EBilling.asp.

Payment Options:

  • Pay parking tickets online at https://ipn.paymentus.com/rotp/cwld
  • In Person: Payments can be made at City Hall’s Customer Service desk (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) using cheque, cash, or debit.
  • After-Hours Drop Box: Cheque payments can be dropped in the after-hours box at the Main Street entrance of City Hall. Do not deposit cash.
  • Financial Institutions: Payments can also be made at most banks and credit unions.

Correspondence and Public Notices (including planning application notices)

Time-sensitive and legally required notices will be delivered by hand or courier. Other correspondence will resume once regular mail service is restored.

Residents expecting important documents should plan to collect them at City Hall (60 East Main Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) if needed. Time-sensitive materials can be delivered to customer service during business hours or dropped into the after-hours drop box at the Main Street entrance.
