Mayor and Council
Our mission is to inspire and promote an active, resilient, and sustainable community delivering the best quality of life possible for all. We respond to the diverse needs of our community in a timely, innovative, and effective manner through teamwork and partnerships.
Respectful Communication with Council
The City of Welland encourages residents to participate in local government and welcomes communication with members of Council. To maintain a respectful, inclusive, and productive environment, all correspondence—whether by email, mail, or phone—must adhere to the City's Respectful Public Behaviour Policy.
When contacting Council:
- Keep your message respectful and focused on the issue. Personal attacks, insults, harassment, or threatening language directed at any member of Council, staff, or other individuals will not be tolerated.
- Do not include comments about individual Council or staff members. Present your concerns or ideas based on facts and policy—not on opinions about people.
- Do not reference or respond to comments made by Council or staff in past discussions. Focus your message on your position, proposal, or feedback—not on rebutting others.
Unacceptable behaviour—such as verbal abuse, intimidation, or repeated hostile communication—may result in your correspondence being disregarded or referred to the appropriate authorities. In some cases, individuals may be restricted from further communication or future participation in Council processes.
Your voice matters, and respectful dialogue ensures it is heard.
